Why This Recipe Is A Must Try

This dish packs a flavorful punch with a perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and savory notes. The crispy Brussels sprouts add a satisfying texture that makes every bite exciting. It’s a great way to enjoy vegetables with an Asian-inspired twist.

Kitchen Tips

- Make sure to dry the Brussels sprouts thoroughly before cooking to help them crisp up nicely.
- Use fresh garlic and ginger to enhance the overall flavor.
- Adjust the chili flakes to your preferred spice level to keep the dish enjoyable for everyone.

Step 1

Gently heat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and lining a large baking sheet with foil. Toss the Brussels sprouts with some olive oil until they’re nicely coated, then spread them out in a single layer on the baking sheet. Pop them in the oven and roast for about 20 minutes, or until they’re tender.

Step 2

While the sprouts are roasting, mix together the soy sauce, chicken broth, rice vinegar, sambal oelek, sherry, and cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth. Pour this sauce into a saucepan and cook it over low heat, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

Step 3

Once the Brussels sprouts are done, add them to the pan and toss to coat them thoroughly in the sauce. Spread them back onto the baking sheet. Move an oven rack close to the top, about 6 inches from the heat, and switch your oven to the broil setting on high.

Step 4

Broil the sprouts for about 5 minutes, keeping an eye on them so they get nicely browned but don’t burn. When they’re ready, sprinkle some chopped peanuts and sliced green onions on top for a fresh crunch and extra flavor. Enjoy!

Serving Ideas For Family Meals

Serve this with steamed jasmine rice or quinoa to soak up the delicious sauce. It also pairs well with a simple cucumber salad to cool down the heat. For a complete meal, add some grilled chicken or tofu on the side.

Storing Food Safely

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet to keep the Brussels sprouts crispy, rather than using a microwave which can make them soggy.
