Why This Recipe Is So Delicious
Helpful Chef Tips
- Use soaked or canned beans to reduce cooking time and ensure even texture.
- Allow natural pressure release for a few minutes to keep the beans tender without breaking apart.
Step 1
Turn on your Instant Pot and selecting the sauté setting. Pour in a little oil, then add the chopped onion and cook it until it’s soft and fragrant, about 5 to 7 minutes. Next, toss in the navy beans, sausage, ketchup, apple juice, bacon bits, brown sugar, cider vinegar, mustard, garlic, salt, and pepper. Give everything a good stir to combine.
Step 2
Close the lid and make sure it’s sealed. Set the pot to cook on high pressure for 20 minutes. It’ll take about 10 to 15 minutes for the pressure to build up before the timer starts counting down. Once the cooking time is up, carefully release the pressure using the quick-release method.
Step 3
When the lid can be safely opened, take it off and give the mixture a stir. Serve it up with a generous sprinkle of Cheddar cheese on top while it’s still hot. Enjoy!
